GOING DOWN?
It was about half two in the afternoon and once again I'd forgotten to have lunch at a sensible time. 'I'll dash down to get a sandwich quickly' I thought, but since I was on the fifth floor, all those stairs did not appeal, particularly as I had to walk past the lift to get to them, so I pressed the 'call lift' button and waited patiently for it to arrive.
And arrive it did. But when the doors opened, I really wasn't expecting to see what I saw. There, in the lift, on his own, was Simon Cowell. Yes, the X-Factor guy.
Resisting the temptation to say 'ground floor please, operator', we exchanged pleasantries and I subconsciously backed into the corner of the lift as it descended to his floor. I felt good though, he's at least a couple of inches shorter than me and I'm not that tall.
