"Hello, this is a message for Jonola Cook"
('that's odd' I thought, 'that's not my name')

"I'm ringing from the UK Deed Poll Association and would like to know if you would like to proceed with your application"
('application?' 'UK Deed Poll Association?')

"If you would like to proceed, please contact me with credit or debit card details"
('if I knew what this was all about then maybe I would')

The message on my answerphone really didn't make much sense to me. UK Deed Poll Association? What's that then? And then I thought a bit more about it and I think I know what this is about and who the suspect behind it is.

The person behind this mystery would have to know that I have two names. So that's most people I know. That person would also have to know that I was considering officially changing my name a few months ago. That narrows it down a bit. That person would also have to know my mobile phone number. I have identified the number one suspect.

The dilemma now is, do I just accept that someone has applied to the UK Deed Poll Association on my behalf for me to change my name, or should I devise a devious and cunning plot for revenge...?
