PEE MOBILE

When I returned from lunch on Tuesday afternoon, there was an envelope on my desk. Assuming it was more work for me to do, I groaned and put it to the side for later in the day. When I did finally get round to opening it, I was astounded to see two free tickets to see Kings Of Leon at Carling Academy, Brixton, for Thursday 23rd December courtesy of a colleague who could no longer attend.

So last night, Debs and I grappled with the Metropolitan, Jubilee and Victoria lines to wind up at the Academy in anticipation of a great night's rock from a super-sizing band. As is compulsory with such events, a pre-gig beer was in order but that soon went through me and I needed to drain the contents of my bladder prior to the start of the gig.

It was one of those communal urinals - with people lined up, peeing against a wall with a trough at the bottom. I did what I had to do and was in the process of washing my hands when I heard the word "fuck" uttered calmly and coolly. I looked up to see a mobile phone lying face down in the trough, with the owner unable to stop his own flow from covering it. If that wasn't enough to make me burst out laughing, all I heard as I walked out the door was "life, mate" as the guy next to him consoled him and compassionately watched his own urine splatter over the phone.
