PICK ME, PICK ME!!

Debs and I went to Chessington World Of Adventures on Saturday for a day of being thrown around on rollercoasters and playing on the fairground games. Having won absolutely nothing when I attempted various gypsy-like games at Thorpe Park back in May, I was determined to win at least something, so I duly purchased a £10 games card and lost at absolutely everything until right at the end of the day when...

...I ambled up to the 'throw the ball at the cans' stall to see if I had any credit left on my games card. My luck was in and the first ball smashed through the triangle leaving three of the six cans still to topple. The second ball was disappointing, knocking two away and the final ball was an absolute disaster and a complete miss. Gutted, but not wholly surprised that I lost YET again, I gave a large sigh and went to walk away from the stall.

"Oh have one more ball, go on". The attendant was standing there, feeling sorry for me and offering me a free shot at the one last remaining can. I gleefully took it from her amidst a torrent of thanks, took a step back, aimed and threw. It was worse than the previous no-score ball.

"Oh come on, gimme one more, I've spent a tenner here already" I blurted out with absolutely no consideration for what I was saying and no respect for the free shot I'd already been gifted. Still, my powers of persuasion were on top form (although Debs thinks the attendant was keen on me...) and she handed me one last chance.

Taking a deep breath and frowning with concentration, I bent my elbow and let go of the ball. 'Ching' went the can and flipped over several times on its way to the ground. "WOO HOO!" I yelled and danced a jig in celebration, "I'll have a Donkey please" and with that a rather shocked attendant handed me Shrek's best mate. To say Debs was pleased is an understatement, she's still grinning now.
