BRIGHT MOMENTS IN A MISERABLE DAY

I have begun to time how long it is between the moment I press the power button on my work computer and the moment I feel pissed off with my job. Today was the record. Having arrived in a strangely chirpy mood, I pressed the button on the pc and was then subjected to a ten minute whinge-session from my boss about how her computer didn't work, how absolutely nothing functions properly and how she wished she hadn't bothered coming in early. Time taken? Two and a half seconds. Eventually I had to just get up and walk away as she negatively blathered on at me about how bad things were. Frankly, boss, I couldn't care less.

Still, there were also some marvellous moment today:
- I got confirmation of a £3,000 pay rise in writing
- I got in direct contact with the PR company for one of my favourite bands who are now sending me a free copy of their latest single
- I won a free corporate hospitality ticket to the Arsenal v Bolton Premiership match later this month, in one of the executive boxes. I'll have to secretly wear a Spurs t-shirt to demonstrate my loyalty to Arsenal's rivals but nevertheless the opportunity for naughtiness is open and available. In fact I was so excited that I forwarded the email to Nick M and Simon S. Simon S then automatically assumed he was invited and was politely trying to decline the offer for a full three hours, before he was eventually told that he wasn't invited anyway and to stop dithering. "I've been duped" he said.
- I won an E-bay auction for a signed Status Quo photo. Splendid.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.....
