WINGMIRROR ISSUES

There is a narrow lane linking two roads here in Bushey and it is frequently used by traffic from both directions. The only trouble is that, at the more narrow points, squeezing two cars past each other can be tricky.

I slowed right down as a car was approaching from the other direction and even mounted the curb to allow a bit more space, but this clearly wasn't enough and BANG went the wing-mirrors, bending mine backwards and doing I don't know what to her's (assumed). 'Bollocks' I thought as I switched on the hazard warning lights.

Ahead of me was a red traffic light for the junction I had been approaching, behind me was the other car with its hazards on and to my right was a clapped out old Ford Sierra waiting behind the other car whilst the damage was assessed. I was window-to-window with the driver of the knackered Ford and before I had the chance to pull down my electric windows, he'd said "you can get through there mate", pointing to the open space in front of me. "Yes, I know, but I've been hit", I replied, hoping that I might spark up his brain and make his eyes shine a bit brighter.

"You can get through there mate"
"I know, I..."
"Have you broken down?"
"No, I've been h..."
"You can get through th..." and at this point I lost the will to live and blurted "LOOK, I'VE GOT WING-MIRROR ISSUES, OKAY...?" at which point the driver of the car I'd been involved with gave the thumbs up (or it may have been the finger, it was a fair distance away) and I drove off.

"Look, I've got wing-mirror issues, okay?" Alex said a few minutes later, which made us giggle and think 'how very Mark R.....'
