FIVES COACH

On the tube last night, I was stood at the end of the carriage because all the seats were taken. Four people got on the tube through the door next to me, three of them in suits and one in smart casuals. All had floppy hair. The one in casuals had used the point of his umbrella to press the 'open' button on the outside of the carriage which immediately caught my attention and I listened in on their ensuing conversation.

One of the four was an older man and the other three looked like they were in their late teens, so I concluded that the older guy was father to one or all of the others.

"So William" the older guy said in a very distinguished, posh accent "I hear your father is a teacher"

"Yah, that's right" said William, brushing away his foppish hair. "He teaches at Eton, yah". My eyebrows raised and Alex and I smiled from ear to ear at this news, but we didn't expect the next bit...

"What does he teach at Eton?" the older man enquired and I fully expected the answer to be "pure mathematics, specifically Calculus" or "divinit-ay" but the young lad sent us into hysterical fits when he replied.....

"FIVES"...!!

And if this wasn't enough, the older guy actually knew him and went on to describe him as a 2tumblesome fellow" and "quite a portly chap"!

How we laughed.
