PERSONAL EMAIL

Last week, we had a Frenchman and a Bosnian woman spend three days in our department so that they could gain an understanding of what each of us does, before they went back to France and started work as call centre operatives.

I spent fifteen minutes with them, giving them an overview into what I do and trying to link it to their role. It was quite a short chat and soon they were off for lunch.

At lunch I happened to sit down next to the Frenchman who proceeded to tell me about his flat in Paris and the fact that he had an English oven. The excitement was overwhelming. After he had spat couscous all over my sandwich, and after my conclusion that he had the most God-awful line in cricket jumpers I had ever seen, he followed the Bosnian back to the department for their final debriefing.

Bearing in mind that I had spent fifteen minutes waffling a load of crap at him and bluffing my way through my job description, as well as humouring him while he droned on about the differences in voltage between English and French plugs, it didn't stop him waltzing up just before his visit ended and presenting me with his PERSONAL email address, which was "not for work, but in case you wanted to talk about Paris". I was one of two lucky people to receive this email address.

He was a tomato short of a salad, and very gay. It was the cricket jumpers that gave him away, although I think the droopy wrists may have contributed. I'm just glad he didn't have the dodgy rub-marks on his trousers like most cricketers do.....
