THROW-AWAY COMMENT
At lunch today, we were discussing living with people and how you don't know someone until you've lived with them.
"When I was at uni, I was in a house with four other blokes, it was a mess - dirty dishes, empty beer cans, slug trails and mice everywhere. So much so, in fact, that we found a dead mouse one day, then wrapped it up and gave it to a housemate for his birthday" I said, setting the tone of the conversation.
"I lived with a load of lads too" piped up a colleague, a 45 year old biker. "We got on really well together, but then I fell out with one of them" he added, prompting the obvious "oh, why was that then?" from yours truly. And in the best throw-away comment manner ever, he replied "oh, I married his girlfriend"!
