COTSWOLDS

On Saturday afternoon I drove to the middle of the Cotswolds for some girl I'd never met's birthday party, courtesy of an invite from Alex M. After getting stuck behind a tractor carrying hay for umpteen tedious miles, eventually overtaking it, then getting lost, turning round, finding the right road and ending up behind the tractor again, we arrived at the venue.

When you consider that I was 150 miles from home, at the party of somebody I had never met, it came as a bit of a surprise to discover that the birthday girl's father went to the same school as me and had been taught history by my stepfather! And he had the call-over book from 1968 to prove it!
