« DOG BOWL | Main | FOLKESTONE » March 27, 2003TORNADO CHASINGFor years now, I have dreamed of heading off to the US mid west states, climbing into a van with a load of computer equipment and cameras, and spending a couple of weeks charging around the area chasing tornados. I have just watched a programme on the National Geographic channel about a family who did just that, which cemented my desire to get over there and concreted my fascination. I cannot begin to imagine the emotions you must go through when faced with an enormous mass of high-speed wind swirling viciously right in front of you (Simon H's post-kebab flatulence excepted). But this programme has fuelled my intent to organize such a trip and to hunt down one of the most powerful natural phenomena in existence. Would anyone care to join me?
