HORSE FLIES
The office where I work is right next to a large field, and during the summer months, we suffer with a massive influx of flies, wasps and other flying creatures. As a consequence, we have a sturdy fly swat that takes pride of place on its own special hook on the wall.
The other day, during the 31 degree heat, I was sat quietly at my desk minding my own business when an enormous, and I mean ENORMOUS horse fly swanned in and parked its wings on my phone's headset. I froze, amazed by the sheer magnitude of this flying monster. Slowly, I raised my arm and grabbed the fly swat from the hook. I took position, at a slight angle for maximum power and gently elevated the swatter. *KERSPLATT* went the horsefly, pieces of wing and leg exploded in every direction and I felt its blood and pus splatter all over my face.
Next time I think I'll just let it live.
