OHLOOK IT’S CUTE
February 11th, 2007 Posted in Drunken AnticsLast night I met up with Mark. I’d been at Valderrama in the early part of the afternoon whilst Mark’s friend Luke got married to a Peruvian woman who can’t speak English.
Needless to say, both events involved large amounts of alcohol and by the time we met up in the early part of the evening, we had the taste. Fancying a change of scenery from the Allsop Arms in Baker Street, we hopped on the tube towards Oxford Circus and somehow we got talking to two blondes.
“We’ll sing you a song” Mark volunteered as we rattled our way down the Bakerloo line, “will we?” I questioned, with a swift turn of the head. So we began a rendition of the Corky & The Juicepigs classic ‘Gay Eskimo’ to the shock, disbelief and amusement of the two blondes and, in fact, the entirity of our carriage.
As we got to the part of the song where it goes ‘and the seals they sing now’, we both started seal clapping and making stupid seal noises that sounded more like a pair of distressed poodles. This delighted our audience.
Our stop loomed. “Oh look”, I said, as the Oxford Circus sign flashed past our carriage windows. “What did you say?” one of the blondes asked. “Ummm, ‘oh look’” I replied, “this is our stop.”
They started laughing. Apparently “oh look” is Afrikaans for ‘cute’. Mark invited them out “to play”. They declined. Must have been his seal impression.
