From the sublime to the ridiculous

CLOCKED

March 31st, 2005 Posted in Uncategorized

The clocks went forward last weekend, meaning that on Sunday morning we all got up and it was one hour later than what the clocks said.

On Tuesday morning, I turned up at work at the usual time of 8.30am to find my boss not there. She is ALWAYS there when I get in so I thought it very odd that I had arrived before her but since we’d just had a public holiday, I put it down to that.

It got to quarter to nine and she still wasn’t in, so I checked the holiday calendar to see if she had booked time of. Nope.

At 9 o’clock, she walked in and seemed a little surprised that I was there. “What’s the time?” she asked, two minutes later. “Just after nine o’clock”, I replied, uncharacteristically chirpily. “Oh, my watch must have stopped” she said, checking her wrist and tapping her watch.

It turns out that she had spent not only the entire day on Sunday, but all of Monday thinking that the time was an hour earlier than it actually was!
