In the summer of 2002, the Cranley Hotel began a competition for its regular punters called ‘Deathwish’. This started after a spate of celebrity deaths - Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother to name but a couple - and the idea was that each player picked a famous person that he/she thought was going to kick the bucket soon and then every week he/she contributed

    Sounds like Simon’s still bleeding the hotel dry, one day he might actually buy a pint in there!
