From the sublime to the ridiculous

SHOOT THE BIKE

May 12th, 2003 Posted in Uncategorized

Having regained my breath after a strenuous hour of 5-a-side, I arrived home and headed straight for the kitchen. I stood at the sink, sipping on my ice cool Ribena and gazed out the window as I rehydrated.

At last I have found somebody who shares my loathing for motorbikes and their sad riders. As I looked through the glass, the piercing whirring sound of a pathetic hairdryer motorbike polluted the quiet evening air. A middle-aged man wearing a v-neck pullover and thick rimmed glasses walked past the window.

He suddenly stopped, his back to the oncoming motorbike, raised his left arm level with his eyes, pulled up his right arm to the same height and poised in the trigger position. ‘neeeeeeeeeee EEEEEEEEEEE E E E E E E E E E E E E E’. He shut one eye, stood very still, cocked his gun and fired off a few rounds from his imaginary rifle at the passing bike. ‘E E E EEEEEEEEEEE eeeeeeeee e e e e ‘ the bike went, as I could see the man imagining a direct hit and a whimpering motorbike headed for a brick wall.
