RACISM IN FOOTBALL
October 14th, 2002 Posted in UncategorizedOver the past few weeks, the issue of racism in football has been at the forefront of the sports news. For those of you that may be unfamiliar with recent goings on, when playing in foreign countries, black footballers have been subjected to taunts, chants and constant abuse from home supporters.
This has been continuing for some weeks now, but it was the Slovakia versus England game over the weekend that really highlighted the seriousness of the situation.
HOWEVER, there is just one minor question that I have, one tiny observation that I have been pondering…..
Given that there is no way on Earth the players can speak or even understand the Slovakian language, HOW THE HELL DO THEY KNOW THEY ARE BEING RACIALLY ABUSED???

what’s the point of telling the players then? Surely they don’t HAVE to know….?
