From the sublime to the ridiculous

Today I was shadowing a member of the Sales Administration team, watching how they process all the information given to them for the ordering, taxing and insuring of vehicles. Not the most enthralling of departments, but hey, it was only for a day.

“How long is the M.O.T. on this one?” Steve shouted across the room at us. “About eight inches” was my teacher’s swift reply, a sharp grin emerging on his face. Everybody looked at him, totally confused. The question was asked again, with the same reply. I was lost. This was bizarre.

“Eight inches” he reiterated, and with that he got up, grabbed the M.O.T. certificate in one hand and held a ruler against it. “You see, eight inches.”

HE HAD MEMORIZED THE DIAMETRIC LENGTH OF AN M.O.T. CERTIFICATE

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

    Well at least they know what to do with a ruler at your dealership. I am being continually hit with Wolvehamperton rulers - sometimes they wet them to make it hurt more…
